Referees Needed!

Being a soccer referee can be both rewarding and fulfilling. Whether for a young person learning responsibility or an adult contributing to the sport, referees are a critical part of the game and crucial to the success of the North Allegheny Soccer Club.

Recruiting, developing, and retaining referees is vital to our long-term success and a strategic priority for our club. We support our referees with local courses, continuing education opportunities, zero tolerance for referee abuse, and a competitive pay scale. Refereeing is a great way to learn the concepts of respect and responsibility and give back to the community.  It is also a great way for current players and coaches to see the game from a different perspective, which provides a competitive advantage.  Refereeing lets you continue your involvement with the sport well past your playing days. What other opportunity allows you to be more involved with the game you love, exercise outdoors, and get paid to do both?

North Allegheny Soccer Club (NASC) has two major programs. In-house games are played on Saturdays for U10 and below and travel games are played on Sundays for U10 - U19.  Both of these programs require referees to administer the games. Referees ensure the safety of the players, spectators, and coaches involved in each game by administering the rules of the game.  All referee jobs are paid positions with the pay structure found here.

NASC is looking for new referees at all age groups.  We would love to have you join the referee cadre whether you are a child or an adult.  If you are interested in becoming a referee, please continue to read below for more instructions on how to do so and submit your interest forms.

Instructions:

Anyone 12 years of age or older prior to the start of a season: – You may apply to become an In-house referee.  You will receive training and mentorship.  You will only be assigned Saturday In-House U8 & U10 games.  In order to take this initial step, complete this form.

Anyone 13 years old or older prior to the start of a season. You may also choose to become a certified referee.  In this case, you would take PA West courses and secure clearances to be a referee for Sunday travel games. Note: Being a certified referee allows you to referee more games, as you can do both Saturday In-House and Sunday Travel games. Travel games do pay a slightly higher rate as well. In order to take this initial step, complete this form. Please also click here to begin the process of becoming a certified referee. NASC attempts to hold an in-person course each season.
